An act of charity & kindness goes a long way!

Yes, it is true! An act of charity & kindness does go a long way! Let me explain it to you! When you help someone who is in dire circumstances and needs your help desperately, you save that person from disaster. Now, this person nurtures good feelings about what you did and that has a significant impact on his/her mind. The impact is faster and greater than your imagination.

Your one act of charity & kindness may completely change a person – making him/her also helpful and compassionate towards others. The entire process is like a chain reaction where you touch one person with generosity and then the process just goes on and on forever. In short, your one good act may bring about complete change in society.

Reading expands your horizon of knowledge!

Have you seen anybody “lost in a book”? Well, losing in a book doesn’t mean losing yourself, literally. It is, in fact, an expression to indicate that the reader is fully engrossed in whatever he/ she is reading. Reading is a great way to explore newer things and expand your horizon. At the same time, it helps in rediscovering yourself. How? For example, while reading fiction, you may ask yourself “what will I do, if I were there?” And, the answer may leave you surprised!

Those who don’t read, continue living in their own shell! They are never able to expand their horizon of knowledge as they don’t know what’s going on around them. Sometimes, you may not even realize what’s that you are missing! With reading, your mind opens up and you become aware of the world around you. Amazing things are happening and there are several great topics you need to know about! Reading empowers you by enhancing your knowledge.

Project management is a systematic process

Project management is a meticulous and systematic process that involves initiation of project, planning and estimation, smooth execution of the plan, supervision and control throughout the progress of the project, and delivery within stipulated time frame. A good project manager will not only consider the technical aspects of a project but will also work towards keeping the team motivated to ensure that the project gets completed on time. Decisiveness and focused mind are the most important prerequisites for being a successful project manager in IT industry as well as outside it. It is, also, important to note that a good project manager must be a good team player first.

Remember, management is not only about instructing or getting the work done, but it is more about coordinating and cooperating with the team to achieve desired goals and objectives. As a project manager, you should be adept & quick enough to answer client queries and extend right support whenever required. At the same time, you have to be available for your delivery team whenever they are stuck somewhere and need your help and guidance.

Punctuality is just a good habit that you need to develop!

I think, punctuality is a habit that can be developed with a strong will and determination. Rather than blaming it on your DNA, look at your own nature of procrastinating things! No one is born punctual! We all have to work hard to develop good habits and punctuality is just one of these very good habits. I find it strange when people say that they have inherited lethargy and tardiness, hence, nothing can be done to fix it.

Remember, it all comes from our own heads. If you really want to become punctual, all you need to do is make small habit changes and become determined to achieve the goal. When someone calls you or invites you to some place, make sure you stick to the time and be there right on time. For reaching somewhere on time, you will have to leave on time because there are many reasons, such as traffic on the way, and other reasons, which may make you late for your destination!

Self awareness is immensely important!

If you really want to achieve your goals in life, then the first thing you need to do is “realize your own strengths and weaknesses”. Because unless you are aware of your own self, you cannot think of prioritizing tasks or do anything efficiently. When you prioritize tasks, make sure you attend only those tasks that nobody else in the team can handle better than you!

This is even more important if you are on a managerial position! Attempting to accomplish everything on your own will only add a “pile of tasks” on your head, which may sometimes become impossible to manage. It is, therefore, highly advisable that you give out some work (which you consider less important or maybe that doesn’t require your focus or attention) to your subordinates or team members. In short, realize the resources (time, competencies, abilities, people, etc.) that you have for doing a particular job and arrange it accordingly.
