Project management is a systematic process

Project management is a meticulous and systematic process that involves initiation of project, planning and estimation, smooth execution of the plan, supervision and control throughout the progress of the project, and delivery within stipulated time frame. A good project manager will not only consider the technical aspects of a project but will also work towards keeping the team motivated to ensure that the project gets completed on time. Decisiveness and focused mind are the most important prerequisites for being a successful project manager in IT industry as well as outside it. It is, also, important to note that a good project manager must be a good team player first.

Remember, management is not only about instructing or getting the work done, but it is more about coordinating and cooperating with the team to achieve desired goals and objectives. As a project manager, you should be adept & quick enough to answer client queries and extend right support whenever required. At the same time, you have to be available for your delivery team whenever they are stuck somewhere and need your help and guidance.

Punctuality is just a good habit that you need to develop!

I think, punctuality is a habit that can be developed with a strong will and determination. Rather than blaming it on your DNA, look at your own nature of procrastinating things! No one is born punctual! We all have to work hard to develop good habits and punctuality is just one of these very good habits. I find it strange when people say that they have inherited lethargy and tardiness, hence, nothing can be done to fix it.

Remember, it all comes from our own heads. If you really want to become punctual, all you need to do is make small habit changes and become determined to achieve the goal. When someone calls you or invites you to some place, make sure you stick to the time and be there right on time. For reaching somewhere on time, you will have to leave on time because there are many reasons, such as traffic on the way, and other reasons, which may make you late for your destination!

Self awareness is immensely important!

If you really want to achieve your goals in life, then the first thing you need to do is “realize your own strengths and weaknesses”. Because unless you are aware of your own self, you cannot think of prioritizing tasks or do anything efficiently. When you prioritize tasks, make sure you attend only those tasks that nobody else in the team can handle better than you!

This is even more important if you are on a managerial position! Attempting to accomplish everything on your own will only add a “pile of tasks” on your head, which may sometimes become impossible to manage. It is, therefore, highly advisable that you give out some work (which you consider less important or maybe that doesn’t require your focus or attention) to your subordinates or team members. In short, realize the resources (time, competencies, abilities, people, etc.) that you have for doing a particular job and arrange it accordingly.

Automation simplifies resource management!

Management and proper utilization of resources is a big challenge that almost every other organization faces today. The challenge becomes bigger, if you try to manage it manually. The records are difficult to maintain and, when required, they are impossible to obtain for reference. With automation, however, it is quite easy to do resource management.

Since everything is on records, computerized and online, any authorized person (employee) can easily access the required information about various resources within the organization and make sure that proper tasks are allocated to them. Efficient resource management is the key to business growth as you can easily control your resources and know what a particular resource is doing at a given time. With automation, business and resource management is easier than anything else.

Organized behavior is a quality of result oriented people!

One great thing about result oriented people is that they are almost always very well organized. They never spend time in activities or things that do not make sense to their ultimate goals or results. All their actions, priorities and thoughts are geared towards driving results. Their organized behavior makes them stand out from the crowd and become a respectable figure among their peers and others who know them!

These people see only the final result and, therefore, do not mind changing their ways or actions to be able to achieve those goals. Since end result is all that matters, they keep changing their ways till the results/ goals are achieved finally. Result oriented people are amongst the most successful entrepreneurs, business analysts and other professionals on top of the success ladder.
